These graduates did not let barriers prevent them from changing their lives. Read their inspiring words.
Erica
Erica Ellington-Griswold and her husband moved their family to Seattle last year seeking work. Unfortunately, her certification to work as a nursing assistant was not valid here, so Erica had to start over again.
Fortunately, our job training programs helped point Erica in the right direction: “I had just moved to this country, and it was very different. I had no friends. Coming to Goodwill was the best step for me,” she says.
With the help of our Community College 101 class, she’s now studying nursing while working part-time at an assisted living center. “I am determined now to reach my goal and become a nurse,” she says.
